Winning Designs

Quantal roofs featured in three winning entries of the Conservatory Design competition held at Glassax 2005

Devon based AGS won awards in two categories for an original octagonal latern style conservatory. Conracts Manager Paul Martin and Senior Surveyor Paul Martin were presented with the Bronze award on the conventional Domestic and Silver in the Portal catagories by Stephen Redman, Exhibition Manager for emap maclaren, who organised the exhibition.

Roof Division Manager Richard Phelps and Production Manager Craig Luff of Nailsworth based Trade Plas recieved the bronze award in the Innovation catagory from Managing Director of emap maclaren Jim Hay. Their unusual entry was the result of the homeowners having very strong views on not wanting a traditional conservatory.

Glassex Sucess

We had a tremendous response from visitors to our striking silver and purple stand at Glassex 2005.

One of the main attractions was a robotic model demonstrating the new Rotafit twist-on bar-to-gallery fixing system. The new products generated a lot of interest and were enthusiastically received by both existing customers and prospects. We also took the opportunity to present our annual Regional Installer and Fabricator awards, and it was good to see so many old friends.

Product Focus

The Quantal roof is by far the best looking roof on the market and the consumers’ first choice.

In order to maintain this enviable position, our technical team has been developing a range of innovations designed to shorten installation times and reduce the number of components needed, and generally make life much easier for fabricators and installers alike.

RotaFit

The effortless all-new, highly engineered ‘Rotafit’ bar-to-gallery fixing system is 25% quicker to install, eliminates radius cut glazing and ensures perfect geometry.

Quite simply, it consists of a male component factory-fitted to the glazing bars and a female component situated on the newly designed gallery. The two fit together easily by inserting and twisting, then a stop block is pushed behind the mechanism to hold it fast under a totally unique sealing baffle.

In addition to the obvious timesaving benefits, Rotafit offers additional weather sealing and increases the strength and integrity of the roof.
It can be used for pitches from 15° - 37.5°.

UniRidgeTM

With all the benefits of a fixed pitch ridge, UniRidge, one of Quantal’s ridge options, has all the versatility of a 22° - 30° range. Fewer components means it is easier to fabricate, quicker to install and costs less.

Installation times are further speeded up by the use of Twin Fast fitter-friendly fixings and the need for fewer cleats.

UniRidge accepts 24mm, 25mm and 32mm glazing options and both the standard and new ‘Heritage’ internal eaves cladding systems.

Kock On Ridge

This patented design for a unique retaining method eliminates the cresting channel and screw fixings, and offers excellent weather sealing.

All nuts are accessed from above, making short work of attaching glazing bars.

Heritage Architrave

For a truly superior interior, Hertiage is a fullt adjustable internal eaves beam cladding system woth a stylish period profile. Available in white or woodgrain finishes, and with a selection of matching internal and external cover angles, this good looking cladding is versitile and practical, thanks to its ingenious new clip-on assembly. Natur-Al - Different By Design

Settle based Quantal Approved Fabricator, Natur-Al builds conservatories using a unique, pioneering construction concept that sets them apart from conventional installations.

Quantal has worked with Natur-Al to produce a specially modified and extended alternative version of its standard aluminium eaves beam that allows it to function as an integral part of the unique Natur-Al structural glazing column. The ‘Fast-Fix’ beam is much easier and quicker to install because no drilling or screws are required to fix it to the glazing elements, and the need for sealant is eliminated. Instead, it is fastened using stainless steel bolts which clamp the glazing column to beam and locate into factory-fixed connector blocks.

Bill Boardman of Natur-Al explains: “This adaptation is the consequence of a close working relationship between the two companies which has enabled Natur-Al to produce
a ground-breaking new design. It is the first time a roofing system has been incorporated into the window section. The cill has been similarly adapted.

“The result is a simple-to-install, robust and more cost effective complete conservatory, with superior aesthetics and discreet sight-lines.”

Wide Span Conservatories

Approved Quantal Installer Franklin Windows installed this very special conservatory on luxury homes at historic Moor Park near Harrogate.

Based on Queen Victoria’s favourite residence, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, Moor Park has been renovated and new homes built in the grounds to a very high standard by a specialist historic restoration company. The families occupying the three new, well-appointed terraced houses approached Franklin with the idea of installing a single conservatory across the length of all the properties.

The 45 metre long cream lean-to conservatory has a projection of four metres, made possible without the need for a portal frame by using Quantal ‘Widespan’ glazing bars. All visible parts of the roof were spray baked in Quantal’s in-house paint shop facility and then internally clad with Quantal’s real timber internal cladding to match the internal timber finish of the Franklin windows.

The roof is glazed with Darby solar control bronze glass. Each unit has four BBA accredited Airscape thermostatically controlled roof vents with integral fly screens. These have been linked through wall mounted control panels to work in conjunction with Siegenia Aeropac air replacement units, to provide an efficient, cost-effective air conditioning system. Under floor heating in each unit ensures an all-weather, high performance building.

David Franklin explains: “Each of the families had different requirements, and proper walls, with heat insulation and sound proofing, were constructed between each unit to ensure their privacy. Although this is one conservatory, we were careful to treat the families individually, and keep everyone informed of progress at every stage of the project.

“The Quantal roof perfectly compliments our unique window system, which combines the best of both worlds with strong, high performance aluminium externally and the beauty of real timber internally. We produce very high specification bespoke conservatories and orangeries and are experienced in designing appropriate structures to enhance period and charater houses."
