Scroll Set
Brass Tie Bar Set

Quantal has introduced a new range of elegant, solid brass tie bars to complement the traditional aesthetics of its stylish roof, offering customers even more choice and build flexibility.

Designed to provide additional support and maintain structural integrity for larger roofs, the components include a Scroll Set mounted on the eaves beam, which increases the height of the tie bar.
The tie bars are supplied individually, cut to size for each roof, to enable quicker on-site installation.

In addition, an elegant bracket is factory fitted to the glazing bar to give even more clearance if required, and is available in brass, white or brown. Split tie bars have been especially developed to allow for ceiling fans to be installed.

Continually Developing New Ideas

Following the trend for conservatories large enough to significantly increase living
space in the home or to add extra room in commercial buildings, Quantal has
introduced ‘Wide span’ glazing bars for lean-to-conservatories.

This sturdy new glazing bar will reduce the need for portal frames, purlins and
bolster bars, in turn improving the aesthetics, substantially reducing costs and
offering easier installation for larger projects.

The ‘Wide span’ bar means a 25% increase in span. For conservatories glazed with glass this enables projections of 4.25 metres with 700mm glass centres. For polycarbonate glazing projections in excess of 5.25 metres can be achieved.

The innovative structural lintel for
gable style conservatories has
been very well received.

This new profile greatly improves the integrity of the building, particularly where central doors are fitted.
Richard Hulbert, General Manager at Quantal, comments, “Our investment in the design of this feature has been rewarded by its great success.”

Our new factory extension with further warehousing, more manufacturing space and
a larger despatch area, also includes a purpose built paint shop.

Specially designed to offer customers a greater choice of colours, this new
resource means that PVC-U, mill finish or pre-coated aluminium can now be
‘spray baked’ in-house. The ‘spray bake’ oven uses the very highest-grade acrylic product, and any colour from the RAL or BS range can now be selected. The
resulting finish is extremely durable.

Aura Conservatories

Quantal Award | Roof Fabricators, South West

South West based Aura Conservatories has been awarded British Board of
Agrément (BBA) certification for the manufacture and supply of the Quantal
roofing system.

The presentation follows a stringent independent inspection programme that
tested the production process and customer service offered by the company.
BBA is the most prestigious standard for construction throughout the UK, and
is only presented once the board is satisfied that the very highest standards of
performance are continuously met.

Chris Yates, Director at Aura, was presented with the BBA certificate by Bob Keyse,
Area Business Manager for BBA, at their factory. He comments, “Achieving this
award endorses the high quality of product and dedicated service that we strive to
give our customers”.

This unique conservatory was fabricated and installed by Nailsworth-based
Trade Plas. It is perched high on the Cotswold Hills with beautiful, far-reaching
views that can be enjoyed all year round, whatever the weather.
The superior aesthetics of the cream powder-coated aluminium Quantal roof
perfectly compliments the Roman-style Cotswold stone pillars, which were
crafted locally to his exact specification. To further emphasise this feature,
a light is sunk into the floor at the base of each pillar giving a spectacular display
at night.
The roof is glazed with Antisun and K-glass, to reduce glare on the brightest days.
A high-efficiency air conditioning unit maintains a comfortable temperature in
the conservatory during the summer, and under-floor heating keeps it cosy
when it’s cold outside.

Ad Hoc PVC-U Installations Ltd has become the latest
company to join the thriving Quantal Approved Fabricator Network.
When the directors of conservatory and window fabricator Ad Hoc were looking
for a new roofing system to compliment their stylish products, their checklist
included durability, aesthetics and strength. It was not until they travelled from
Bagillt in North Wales to the Glassex 2003 exhibition in Birmingham that they found everything they were looking for – in the Quantal system.

Co-founder and Director of Ad Hoc, Ainsley Moorst, explains, “When we visited
the Quantal stand at Glassex, we liked what we saw. The system has great style,
and being powder coated aluminium it is tough and has superior strength. And,
most importantly, it maintains its good looks despite weathering.”
Ainsley and fellow co-founder and Director Philip Campbell first began trading
in 1992, installing windows, doors and roofline. The company was named Ad Hoc,
which is Latin for ‘Formed For A Specific Purpose’. The following year they decided
to start fabricating, and today they manufacture over 130 windows and doors a
week at their new 12,000 sq ft purpose built fabrication unit, for new build, trade
and retail customers, and employ 20 people, including their original team.

Ainsley continues, “Our complete turnkey conservatory installation package
is bespoke to suit each customer’s needs, from design and planning, to tiling
and electrical work. We offer products and service of the highest quality, all
supported by a 10-year, insurance backed guarantee.
“What makes our company different is that the directors and staff are always accessible; we believe that by giving the personal touch we can ensure total
customer satisfaction.“We are keen to get more involved with new build projects,
and the superior quality and aesthetics of the Quantal system means that we
can easily differentiate our offer in the marketplace,” concludes Ainsley.

Key Personnel

Newest recruits to the Technical Services team
Gareth Gwynne (left) and Phil Crease.

Steve Whistler is Technical Services Manager and heads the technical
department at Quantal.
The team is responsible for product development, software enhancement,
quality assurance and the purchasing of all component materials.
Quantal has made a significant investment by upgrading its 3D CAD modelling
software. This powerful development and visualisation tool will reduce lead
times and enhance communication.
The package is already contributing considerably to new and existing product enhancements. Steve Whistler explains, “We are able to ‘build’ even more
realistic 3D models on screen and look at them from every aspect, making
adjustments as necessary.
“Once we have the measurements and coordinates for the various different components we can assemble, move them about and check them for
appearance and performance. Mathematical calculations that used to take
hours are done by the computer very quickly.
“We can even have a prototype made of a component in the conceptual stage
by emailing the coordinates to a machine shop which produces a model that
we can assess. This work could not previously have been undertaken easily
because of the high costs involved in terms of time and money.

“Once we are satisfied, we can communicate with, for example, a mould
tool machine, transfer information by computer and make modifications as
necessary.” Steve is assisted by Development Technicians John Kay and Gareth Gwynne, and Phil Crease, Design Engineer.
